Doce de maçã/leite/mango etc (...fruits that have been cooked in sugar and water and is eaten cold. It in english is called "compote"). Therefore, DOCE DE FRUTAS=COMPOTE but it is too (sometime) called here at Brasil of 'FRUTA EM CALDA'.
Fruta cristalizada:Candied fruit/crystallized fruit
Purê de maçã:applesauce
Tortinhas de maçã; pão doce com maçã; massa folhada com recheio de maçã: Apple pastries.
Molho de frutas com calda cremosa: Fuit stew
Geléia de fruta: Fruit butter
Goiabadas:Fruit cheese.
Marmelada: Quince cheese.*
*(Marmalade = doce de laranja ou outras frutas cítricas).
You know, in the U.S. we don't do so many things with fruit. With apples, we make apple pie, applesauce, and candy apples. For example, I may have seen the word "compote" in print, but have never heard it spoken; therefore, I don't know how to pronounce it, even!
